The best Na nože restaurants, region by region across Slovakia

Where it is actually worth eating

Na nože has shown dozens of places, but not all of them make sense to visit today. We put this roundup together differently from a knife-score ranking: we picked only restaurants that are open today and worth a stop, and grouped them by region of Slovakia. Whether you are heading west, to the centre, or east, you have a lunch tip along the way.

Western Slovakia

Bella Italia in Šamorín

In the west, start at Bella Italia in Šamorín. This Italian pizzeria once had a 136-dish menu and was sliding into the red, but Martin brought it back to honest Italian classics. The Bank in Kolárovo, housed in a former bank building, once kept diners waiting up to an hour, but today it is a decent stop with a 4.5 rating on Google. In the Little Carpathians you will find Mavi's in Pezinok and the brewery-backed Sandorf in Prievaly, which holds a village monopoly and brews its own beer.

Central Slovakia

Tri groše in Ľubietová

Central Slovakia is packed with success stories. The crown belongs to Tri groše in Ľubietová, a few kilometres from Banská Bystrica, one of the two restaurants with a perfect five knives and a Google rating of 4.6. A grill and smoker on the terrace, honest ribs, and a homemade strudel make it an easy choice. In Banská Bystrica itself, Yalla Habibi is worth a visit for its superb Syrian food. Heading north you will reach Koliba pod Vlkolíncom near Ružomberok with fresh cooking and a 4.5 rating, and the hunters' Silvanus in Kremnica with honest game.

Eastern Slovakia

Hostinec Raj in Hrabušice

In the east, the obvious choice is Hostinec Raj in Hrabušice on the edge of Slovak Paradise. It is packed every lunch, the food is excellent, and it holds a Google rating of 4.5, so if you set off on a hike, you have somewhere to stop. In Košice, Bayer Restaurant serves solid food. Vegetarians are well served at VEG in Poprad, which worked its way up from an indebted cellar to a decent menu below the High Tatras. And if you are in Kežmarok, stop by Hashtag Pub in Ľubica, where Martin turned an unsure cook into a star.

Plan your route

This is just a selection, there are many more open places from the show. You will find them all on our interactive map with the address, opening hours, and rating, so you can build a Na nože restaurant trip around wherever you happen to be heading. Mark off where you have already been, and enjoy the meal.
