Martin Novák is a Slovak chef who hosts Na nože and helps restaurants in crisis. He studied at the Hotel Academy in Bratislava and has worked in well-known restaurants since 2004. For several years he ran the restaurants at Pezinok Castle and later opened his own venue. He has cooked for members of the Dutch and British royal families, won numerous awards, and placed second in the Best Chefs 2022 ranking. He is also active in culinary education.

At the end of each episode the chef gives the restaurant a rating in knives, from 0 to 5. The more knives, the better the restaurant did.
