Where are they now: which Na nože restaurants have closed and which are thriving

The most common question from Na nože viewers is simple: are these places still open? We went through all fifty-plus restaurants from five seasons and checked their current status. The answer is mixed. Most are still running, but nine of them are now closed. And it is no accident which ones.

The restaurants that no longer operate

Two places fell in the very first season. Zlatý Mlyn in Ludanice sat empty with a kitchen running on convenience food. Martin steered it toward families, but it is now closed. The vegan Plantáž Bistro in Martin met the same fate, crushed by debt and feuding co-owners. It got a fresh menu, but the tension between the owners was stronger, and the place is closed today.

In season two, Staré časy in Marianka shut down. The restaurant was meant to evoke nostalgia, but flies, a septic-tank stench, and chaos greeted Martin. Even though it earned three knives at the end of the episode, it is now closed.

Season three took its toll on Retro Burger & Dinner in Prešov. The diner by the station stood empty and drowned in convenience food. It finished with three knives, but it no longer operates.

Season four was the hardest hit, with five places closing. Two of them received Martin's lowest possible score. Bufet Jahodná near Dunajská Streda drowned in debt and filth, and Martin shut it on the spot. A month later nothing had changed, and the verdict was zero knives. Koliba Burger & Pizza Rica in Martin had no identity. Martin turned it into Chalúpka, but a month later it had closed, also with zero knives.

Three more season-four places joined them. Heydučka in Bratislava was stagnating, its fridges hiding year-old food. The reinvention as a tapas bar earned two knives, but the place is closed now. Javorina Pub 21 in Šaca near Košice copied kebab and pizza from its neighbours while the family bankrolled it. It finished with one knife and is closed today. And finally Veganaf in Banská Bystrica, which took just nine euros a day after turning the kitchen into activism. Three knives were not enough, and the place is now closed.

And on the other side: the ones thriving

The good news is that most restaurants survived, and some are genuinely flourishing. The best examples are the two places that earned a perfect five knives. Tri groše in Ľubietová shed its tweezer cuisine and hour-long waits, and today holds a 4.6 rating on Google. Oravský Zrub in Nižná already cooked superbly before Martin arrived, it just sat empty at lunch. After launching lunch delivery to the nearby industrial park, it finally found its customers.

The four-knife places are doing well too. Hostinec Raj in Hrabušice is packed every lunch and holds 4.5 on Google. Koliba pod Vlkolíncom near Ružomberok, once run by remote control from Bratislava, returned to fresh cooking and also sits at 4.5.

What made the difference

The pattern is fairly clear. Where the change stuck, it was driven by an owner who genuinely wanted it and did not expect a miracle over one weekend. Where a place closed, the exact problems that brought the help in usually returned: no cost control, a chaotic kitchen, and unclear leadership.
